The DFW HOG Chapter Ride Guide is available to all Chapter members.
It contains information that each
member is expected to know and observe so that everyone can
participate in safe and enjoyable group rides with the
Chapter. New members receive a copy when they join the
Chapter. Copies are also available at Texas Harley-Davidson

New and prospective members are encouraged to attend a New
Member Orientation as soon as possible. They are
usually given on the second and, on occasion, the third Saturday of
every month (Check the calendar
for the next scheduled orientation). Information is
presented to help new members understand group riding with
DFW H.O.G. Also, the orientations are a great time to
meet a few of the Chapter Officers and fellow new members.
"Seasoned" members and Road Captains are also
encouraged to attend at least once a year as a refresher and to
share ideas.
The
orientations start at 8:45 am at the Texas Harley-Davidson Service
Center. Following the orientation, a Chapter
ride is scheduled so that new members can immediately begin riding with the
group.
Safe Rider Skills
Program
H.O.G. members are eligible for tuition
reimbursement in the form of a coupon for up to $50 for the
successful completion of an accredited Motorcycle Safety
Foundation (MSF) rider training course, including Riders Edge
courses.
To get your coupon, patch and pin your paperwork
must be submitted to H.O.G. within three months of the course
completion date and must include:
-
Completed Safe Rider Skills form (Available at
Texas H-D or the H.O.G.
Members web site).
-
Copy of your receipt for the course.
-
Copy of MSF certificate indicating successful
completion of the course.
Make sure you include the local Chapter Name and
Number. If 12 or more chapter members take the class during
a year, the chapter will receive a recognition plaque and
mention in H.O.G. Tales. Our chapter name is DFW Texas H.O.G. and
the chapter number is 4961.
Riding Tips
Emergency contact information in emergencies.
Medical or contact information available to first
responders or fellow chapter members if you are involved in a
medical emergency is important. By law there are only
certain persons (like law enforcement) who can go thru your wallet
during these times and chapter members are not one of them.
Putting contact information on you bike is a good thing but where?
There is another alternative. There are companies out there who
can make a military style stamped "dog tag" type tag for
you to carry around your neck but it is limited to 5 or 6 lines of
15 characters each. Just web search them. Also there is a
company who makes "Road IDs" which were designed for
runners or bicycle riders which are tags with much more laser
engraved information on them. They are a little more expensive
than a "dog tag" but also offer
"interactive" information and boot lace and ankle
types.. The "dog tag" style is the "FIXX
ID". Just web search "road id" as
well:
